BIEBER, SONY/ATV LEAD SONGWRITER CERTIFICATIONS

Justin Bieber received six Platinum and Gold certifications from the National Music Publishers Association in October while Sony/ATV led all publishers with 67 certifications in the month.

The NMPA, in partnership with the RIAA’s Gold & Platinum Program, certifies the songwriters of RIAA-certified singles and, for October, handed out 232 certifications for hit songs.

UMPG’s Bieber’s Sorry” was certified Multi-Platinum; “Cold Water” and “Let Me Love You” certified Platinum and Gold; and “Company” was certified Platinum. Four songwriters received three certifications each: Andrew Taggart of Chainsmokers (Sony/ATV); Ashley Gorley (Atlas/Combustion, Warner/Chappell); Darold Durard Brown (Sony/ATV); and Benjamin Levin, aka Benny Blanco (UMPG).

Sony/ATV’s 67 certifications (28 Gold, 15 Platinum, 24 Multi-Platinum) were followed by (among others) Universal Music Publishing Group’s 36 (13 Gold, 15 Platinum, 8 Multi-Platinum); Warner/Chappell with 24 (6 Gold, 9 Platinum, 9 Multi-Platinum); Kobalt Music at 18 (8 Gold, 6 Platinum, 4 Multi-Platinum); BMG with 17 (8 Gold, 3 Platinum, 6 Multi-Platinum), Wixen with 10 (5 Gold, 5 Platinum); Missing Link at nine (4 Gold, 4 Platinum, 1 Multi-Platinum); SONGS with eight (1 Gold, 3 Platinum, 4 Multi-Platinum); and Pulse with eight (1 Gold, 5 Platinum, 2 Multi-Platinum).
