BLACK BALL: CLIVE HAS KEYS
TO THE KINGDOM

The one and only Clive Davis joins RCA star Alicia Keys on the occasion of Keep a Child Alive's Black Ball at NYC's Hammerstein Ballroom, at which Davis was honored. "This trade photo encompasses not only tonight's splendid occasion," Clive intoned, "but, indeed, all of human history." Actually, he didn't say that, but some of his actual remarks can be found below, as well as a shot of Clive with fellow legend Patti Smith.

Davis began his remarks by discussing his illustrious life in music, then turned to recent trending topic Bob Dylan. He saluted Dylan's winning the Nobel Prize in Literature, adding, "It’s forever spine-tingling having had the personal privilege of working with poet laureates like Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Patti Smith, Ray Davies and others. I’ve indeed been blessed."

He then saluted Keys, both for her efforts on behalf of the Keep a Child Alive AIDS/HIV charity and as an artist. "Peter Edge and I were fortunate enough to be there when our hostess Alicia Keys was musically born," he declared. "It was amazing to witness her songs and her talent soaring from the very beginning. We watched her win all those Grammys and achieve incredible recognition worldwide as being in a special class of her own."

Davis then enjoined the crowd to dig deep to support Keep a Child Alive; you can do so too, by going here.
