THE 1975 SET SIGHTS ON DUAL #1

The 1975’s manager and label boss at Dirty Hit, Jamie Oborne, is hoping for a joint U.K. and U.S. #1 for the band’s second album, I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It, out Friday (2/26). Its predecessor hit the top spot in Blighty in 2013 and #28 stateside, and Oborne has spent the last four years working towards the double whammy. With preorders currently 20k U.K., and 40k U.S., is he within shot?

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are the only thing standing in the way at the moment, with their self-released new album, This Unruly Mess I’ve Made, also out tomorrow via a distribution and marketing deal with Warner.

It's UMG that's behind The 1975, with John Janick’s Interscope looking after the U.S., while Ferdy Unger-Hamilton’s Polydor takes on distribution and marketing might in the U.K.

The BBC are fully behind the band, with “The Sound” currently sitting on the Radio 1 A List while “A Change of Heart” was Annie Mac’s Hottest Record earlier this week. Global's Capital is on board, too.

The band will play a live show on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show at 9am PST today, before visiting The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon tonight. Fan listening parties are also happening today, with pop-up shops displaying the album artwork following in New York on 2/26 and London on 2/28.
