Price: Easier to spell than Ergatoudis.

THE PRICE IS RIGHT AT BBC RADIO 1

The new BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra Head of Music is Chris Price, who's taking over from George Ergatoudis in March after the long-running exec was nabbed by Spotify. It's the second time Price has worked at the national radio station after serving as Music Programmer/Producer during 2000-2006.

He's also held roles at Sony (as Client Account Manager in '96-'93), Warner (Product Manager at London Records '99-'00), MTV, BT and Last.fm.

As the Head of Music, Price will become the creative and editorial lead for Radio 1 and 1Xtra’s music policies, and play a key role in ensuring the BBC delivers the right content on the right platforms for young audiences.

Controller at BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra, Ben Cooper, praised Price's "unparalleled experience across music radio, TV and digital broadcasting." He added: "His passion and knowledge is key to our future plans for young audiences to continue to discover the music they will love. I’m delighted to welcome him to the team.”

Said Price: "Radio 1 & 1Xtra's Head of Music is the greatest music discovery job on the planet. I'm thrilled to be joining the BBC to continue the incredible work it does breaking new music, as well as steering the networks’ music strategy into the next phase of its digital future.”
