AIN'T NO PARTY LIKE A SAM SMITH PARTY

New Capitol act Frances got a high-profile endorsement from label-mate Sam Smith during an interview with BBC Radio 1's Annie Mac in which he discussed his ideal party playlist, whirlwind year, Spectre and upcoming second album.

Since last appearing on Mac's show in December 2014, Smith has won Grammys and BRITs and broken Guinness World Records. His latest song "Writing's on the Wall" for the new James Bond movie, Spectre, hit #1 on the U.K. Official Singles Chart at the beginning of October. Smith will release more music before the end of this year with In the Lonely Hour: The Drowning Shadows Edition on 11/6. The repackaged version of his 9m+ selling debut features a second CD with nine new and exclusive tracks. His version of Amy Winehouse's "Love Is a Losing Game" will be aired on BBC Radio next week.

"I wanted this to be a direct gift to my fans, because when I released my album there were certain songs they wanted on there and there are certain covers I've done that I love," he told Mac. "It's been such a unreal album that I think it's wrong to not give it the bow it needs."

Smith is already writing his second LP, the material for which is "coming quite naturally." "If I had nothing to say after this last year that's mental because so much has happened to me. I'm just trying to be as honest as I possibly can," he said.

Frances is a U.K. singer/songwriter who's managed by Smith's team at Method Music. She's a big priority for Capitol boss Nick Raphael in 2016. Her latest single "Let It Out" was released on 10/16, which Smith chose to play on Mac's show. The video has had over 50k views on Vevo (you can see it below). Said Smith: "She reminds me of Carole King, a very classic songwriter with a modern twist. She's just going to get bigger and bigger."

On Smith's agenda for the rest of the year is Bond promo, a show in the Philippines and a tour in Japan, before venturing across Australia.

In case you're planning on celebrating the end of the week by getting hammered like us, Smith's other top tracks for a right old knees-up include Diana Ross’ "I'm Coming Out", "Sleepwalker" by Emily King, "Get Away" by The Internet, Ardyn’s "Help Me on My Way" and George Michael's "Fast Love."
