NEW MUSIC FRIDAYS: THREE-MAN SHOW IN BLIGHTY

New U.K. music out tomorrow is all about male singer/songwriters, with three Universal acts releasing albums. James Morrison (Island), Maverick Sabre (Virgin EMI) and Guy Garvey (Polydor) look set to battle it out against the soundtrack to the heartbreaking Amy Winehouse documentary (Island).

Morrison’s fourth album, Higher Than Here, is his second on Island, following on from the chart-topping The Awakening in 2011. First single “Demons” has had 854 plays across all U.K. radio this past chart week, and Morrison will sing on a Halloween-themed edition of the Beeb's Strictly Come Dancing on 11/1. New single “Stay Like This” premiered on BBC Radio 2 on 10/27.

Innerstanding is Sabre’s second LP. His first, 2012’s Lonely Are the Brave hit #2, with first week sales of over 44k. Second single “Come Fly Away” has had a very modest 45 plays across all U.K. radio this past chart week and will get an official release on Friday.

Garvey is also frontman of Elbow and a presenter on BBC 6 Music. His first solo LP Courting the Squall has been preceded this week by an appearance on BBC 2’s Later… With Jools Holland on 10/27, where he performed two tracks from the set, "Angela's Eyes" and "Belly of the Whale”.

Who will reach Top 5 next week? Look out for Monday’s midweek update.
