HITS Daily Double

THE DEATH OF PRINT JOURNALISM,
PART 13,428

Our newest cover model is Astralwerks/Capitol’s Halsey, who's building major buzz ahead of the release of her full-length, Badlands. Having racked up killer preorders and a streamrolling presence on the socials, the hot singer/songwriter has now scored a massive pub deal with Jody Gerson's UMPG. As her zeitgeisty "New Americana" singles makes its way at radio, all looks rosy for the blue-haired siren. Still, she'll need a lot of "legal marijuana" to cope with this HITS cover appearance.

Our Contents page VIP is longtime MTV/VH1/CMT chief Van Toffler. When Van announced in February that he was leaving the company after 28 years of service- the bulk of that stretch as its face and voice-it marked the symbolic end of an era. But before Toffler heads off to do his own thing, he's throwing himself a star-studded going-away party, and it promises to be as wild and wacky as basic cable will allow. Indeed, the more chaos (to use his favorite term) Van's final Video Music Awards generates, the happier the show's executive producer will be. Let's hope this Contents appearance (hopefully not his last) doesn't spoil his party before it starts.
