SHANNON EXTENDS HIS MORNING

Broadcasting Legend Signs Extension of Deal for WCBS Morning Show

Our balls may be deflated, but Scott Shannon is still scoring bigtime.

The broadcasting legend has inked a multi-year contract extension with WCBS-FM in NYC, stretching his tenure as morning-drive host. Scott Shannon in the Morning, which kicked off in March of 2014, airs weekdays from 6-10am; since its bow, WCBS’ weekly cume has shot up 20%, reaching about 4 million listeners.

“Scott has been more than just a great addition to WCBS-FM’s morning line-up – he has had a tremendous impact in elevating the station to its premier position in New York,” said CBS Radio COO Scott Herman. “We are privileged to work with such a legend in our industry, and I appreciate our relationship both personally and professionally.”

Scott called WCBS “the perfect place for me” and praised Herman and WCBS PD Jim Ryan.

His wake-up team includes co-host Patty Steele and Joe Nolan, with traffic and weather from CBS 2’s John Elliott. Rumors that Donald Trump would be a periodic guest commentator on immigration issues, public breastfeeding and casino etiquette couldn’t be confirmed at presstime.

Scott is also a legend on the green, where he has occasionally witnessed our own Lenny Beer hurling clubs at a tree.
