Warner Bros.' San Andreas, which stars Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as a rescue helicopter pilot during a series of devastating earthquakes up the California coast, opened with a strong $53m this weekend. This is the strongest opening for a Johnson-led film that wasn't driven by an ensemble cast.
