Epic topper L.A. Reid has brought in Breyon Prescott as Head of Urban
A&R. Under the new partnership, Prescott will bring his imprint to the label.
In this morning’s announcement, Reid lauded Prescott’s “instincts, relationships and ability to deliver the hits. I’m especially proud of Breyon for spearheading the revival of iconic R&B group Jodeci—the guys have delivered an incredible album.”
Prescott, meanwhile, describes Reid as “one of the last, true ‘record men,’ who undeniably has the best ears in the business. I am continually impressed by L.A.’s leadership and ability to stay passionate for his craft, in spite of all his groundbreaking success. We have some incredible music on deck for 2015. and I’m looking forward to having many more banner years at Epic.”
During his two decades in the biz, Prescott has served as an A&R exec, producer and executive producer on projects with Jamie Foxx, Drake, Kanye West, D’Angelo, Angie Stone and Brandy, among other acts. As President/CEO of Chameleon, Prescott is executive producing the latest Jamie Foxx project, set for a December release, along with managing acts including Nikki Williams and Brandy. He’s had JVs with RCA and J Records under the tutelage of Clive Davis and Peter Edge, and more recently with Def Jam.
