Royal Blood, Sheeran, Sam, Madge Lead Post-Show Upward Moves at iTunes U.K.
The primary initial beneficiary of BRIT Awards exposure is WMG’s Royal Blood, who picked up the award for Best British Group and unleashed a hammer-of-the-gods performance of “Figure It Out.” Fellow Warnerite Ed Sheeran is #2 this morning, followed by UMG’s Sam Smith at #4 and 9, with Sony’s Paloma Faith at #7 and George Ezra at #8.
Singles-wise, the BRITS performer who’s made the biggest impact—literally as well as figuratively—is Live Nation/Interscope proto-diva Madonna, whose “Livin’ for Love” trampolines to #2 following her onstage spill. Madge’s two EPs of remixes of the track are presently #16 and 18.
The Brits 2015 averaged 5.25m (24.1%) viewers between 8pm and 10.15pm on ITV, with a further 422k (2.3%) tuning in on +1, meaning it was up on last year's all-time low, Digital Spy reports. The show was also livestreamed on YouTube.
