PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN

Fall Out Boy on Top; Six Debuts in Top 15

The HITS Building Album Sales Chart has finalized with DCD2/Island’s Fall Out Boy on top. American Beauty/American Psycho, the pop/rockers’ sixth studio album, earns them a strong 204k.

According to inside sources, the band prompted some 90k in digital pre-orders when American was priced at $7.99 during the Christmas season through its 1/20 release. Upon streeting, the price moved up to $9.99, moving about 40k digital copies.

Big Machine’s Taylor Swift holds strong at #2 with another 81k in her 13th week on the chart.

And last week’s chart-topper, Meghan Trainor’s Title, rounds out the Top 3 with 53k for Epic.

The Top 15 sees a total of six debuts this week with Joey Bada$$ at #4 with 51k for Cinematic (through RED). The 2015 Grammy nominees compilation sits just below with 46k for RCA.

Meanwhile, Loma Vista/Concord’s Marilyn Manson earns a few thousand more than his previous, 2012 release with 42k at #6, and Capitol’s Decemberists sit at #8 with 40k.

Streeting this week are albums from Motown’s Ne-Yo and RCA’s Charlie Wilson.

On our Sales Plus Streaming (SPS) Chart, Fall Out Boy remains #1 and moves up to 227k thanks to smash single “Centuries” and some strong follow-ups (and streaming of course). In fact, the first four artists listed remain the same. YMCMB/Republic’s Nicki Minaj, however, moves #11-5 when comparing album sales to SPS. That being said, RCA’s Mark Ronson leaps #32-6; “Uptown Funk” is currently the #2 single at iTunes after all.
