Verizon iPhone

NO LINE ON THE VERIZON: When Steve Jobs unveils the next-gen iPhones in June, one of them may be the answer to the prayers of Verizon subscribers who’ve felt left out because of Apple’s exclusive deal with AT&T. The Verizon iPhone would mark the end of AT&T's three-year lock on the device, instantly creating a sizable new customer base. The news was first reported by the Wall Street Journal, which said the company that manufactures the iPhone was expected to begin mass-producing a Verizon version starting in September. Verizon, like Sprint, uses CDMA technology, while AT&T uses GSM. (3/30a)
