MIA clip pulled

M.I.A. CLIP SUDDENLY MIA: Within a day of its web debut, the controversial video for M.I.A.’s “Born Free” was in some instances removed from YouTube and in some instances labeled with an age restriction, the N.Y. Times noted. The video, directed by Romain Gavras, the son of Costa-Gavras, the director of such political thrillers as the Oscar-winning Z and Missing, depicts an unspecified military force, with some members wearing American flags on their uniforms, rounding up red-headed men from an apartment complex and taking them to a desert to be tortured and executed. The clip can still be viewed on M.I.A.’s official site, miauk.com. (4/28a)
