DOWNTOWN GOES UPTOWN: Downtown Music Publishing songwriters are storming the charts, with Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Trey Songz, Taio Cruz, Neon Trees and Drowning Pool leading the way. Perry’s “California Gurls” is #1 at Pop; Cyrus’ “Can’t Be Tamed” is one of five Downtown songs on her new album and Songz’s “Neighbors Know My Name” is a Top 10 R&B single, one of six Downtown titles on his gold album. Cruz’s “It’s Dynamite.” In addition, Cruz’s new single, “It’s Dynamite,” just hit, while Neon Trees’ “Animal” is Top 10 Alternative and Drowning Pool’s “Feel Like I Do” is #4 at Rock, making the pubbery’s Justin Kalifowitz a very happy man.
