EMI Wins ASCAP Honors

EMI DOMINATES ASCAP: EMI Music Publishing picked up Publisher of the Year honors for the 16th consecutive year at Friday night’s 23rd Annual ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards. Big Jon Platt accepted the honor on behalf of EMI, which had 22 of the Most Performed songs of the year, including multiple awards for Beyonce and Stargate’s Mikkel Eriksen and Tor Erik Hermansen. “Blame It,” by Jamie Foxx f/T-Pain, co-written with Christopher Henderson, won Top R&B/Hip Hop Song. Dr. Dre was honored with the Founder’s Award, presented to him by ASCAP head Paul Williams and Eminem, while Janelle Monae received the Vanguard Award from Outkast’s Big Boi. Songwriter/producer Jimmy Jam presented the songwriter of the year award to Ne-Yo, Tricky Stewart and The-Dream, who tied with six songs each. (6/28a)
