Paul Allen Sues Internet

ALLEN SUES THE INTERNET: Paul Allen has filed a suit in Seattle’s U.S. District Court against Google, YouTube, Apple, AOL, Facebook, Yahoo, eBay, Netflix, Office Depot, OfficeMax and Staples alleging they all violated patents owned by Allen’s Interval Licensing issued between 2000-’04 relating to Internet browsing technology and the display of information for shopping, news, video and other online content. In addition, Allen claims his Interval Licensing, which he founded in 1992 with venture capitalist David Liddle, provided initial research funding for Google’s Sergey Brin and Larry Page to create the web giant. He is asking for unspecified damages and an injunction preventing further infringement or “a royalty for post-judgment infringement.” (8/27p)
