More Spider-Man

MORE SPIDEY: The N.Y. Post may have trashed last night’s Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark preview (see below), but not everyone agreed. The Daily News claimed the audience, who paid as much as $275 a ticket, called it “a surefire smash hit despite some kinks,” quoting several enthusiastic attendees. The N.Y. Times was also taking a wait-and-see attitude, claiming the show “took flight…but not without bumps.” Showbiz411's Roger Friedman was more enthusiastic, dubbing it "an amazing achievement. It combines the best of Broadway musicals with a touch of Cirque du Soleil, the Big Apple Circus, and Taymor’s own identifiable genius with puppets and imagery." Bono told 60 Minutes, “It has been one of the funnest, most joyful rides of our artistic life.” U2’s lead singer and The Edge have 19 new songs in the play, including a new theme and snippets of “Vertigo” and “New Year’s Day.” (11/29p)
