EMI UK makes Q4 gains

THE COMEBACK: Alongside its blue-chip catalog, EMI’s strong performance in 2010 has made it an increasingly attractive proposition for bidders, Gorman points out in the piece. So far in Q4, the company has increased year-on-year albums marketshare in the U.K. from 12% to 14.2% behind such solid albums as Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream and Robbie Williams’ greatest hits, which have both sold 400k-plus units. The British company has also broken several new acts, led by Tinie Tempah, who has one of the biggest-selling debuts of 2010 with 300k-plus sales, and Eliza Doolitle (250k). (12/20a)
