Music for Japan Relief Effort

JAPAN RELIEF: All four major label groups—UMG, Sony, WMG and EMI-- have banded together, along with some of the biggest names in pop music, for the worldwide digital release of Songs for Japan, 38 previously recorded hits, for $9.99, starting today exclusively at iTunes. Proceeds from sales will benefit the disaster relief efforts of the Japanese Red Cross Society for the ongoing provision of immediate relief and eventual recovery support. The artists, music labels and music publishers have all waived royalties and proceeds from worldwide sales, while iTunes will also donate all revenues to the JRCS. The album starts with John Lennon’s “Imagine,” U2’s “Walk On,” Bob Dylan’s “Shelter From the Storm” and Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” and includes tracks from Eminem, Bruce Springsteen, Pink, Adele, Beyonce, Katy Perry and Justin Timberlake, among others.
