Winehouse drank herself to death

DEATH BY VODKA: Amy Winehouse died as the unintended consequence of drinking too much alcohol, an inquest into her death determined. Pathologist Suhail Baithun revealed that Winehouse had consumed a "very large quantity of alcohol"—more than five times over the legal drunk-driving limit. Said Coroner Suzanne Greenaway, "The unintended consequence of such potentially fatal levels was her sudden and unexpected death." Winehouse's physician, Dr. Christina Romete, said she’d resumed drinking in the days before her death. According to Romete, the prescription drugs Winehouse had been taking to help her cope with the symptoms of alcohol withdrawal played no role in her death. (10/26a)
