LIKE GNATS ON AN ELEPHANT: According to music-biz insiders, iTunes did initially put pressure on the labels in an effort to block the licensing of their music with Spotify, but relented after determining that the subscription business represented a small percentage of the music model. Like its rivals in the sub-service sector, Spotify has yet to develop an elegant platform or a compelling culture, thus insuring iTunes’ continuing dominance. (5/31a)
