Gavin ups Voss to EVP

A ROLLING STONE GATHERS NO VOSS: IDJ and Universal Republic have upped Matt Voss to EVP of International, East Coast Labels, East Coast COO Ivan Gavin announced. Voss, who was previously SVP, will oversee the international exploitation of all artists under UMG’s East Coast Labels umbrella, including the marketing, publicity and promotion functions for IDJ and Universal Republic overseas. “Matt’s leadership and real track record of success has proved indispensable when it comes to developing artists globally,” said Gavin. “Given the company’s continued expansion, there is no one better suited to lead our international efforts.” Added Voss, "I am grateful to Barry Weiss and Ivan for this opportunity. The senior management teams at the New York labels are truly exceptional, and I am privileged to work with them and their phenomenal artists. I look forward to my continued relationships with the Universal companies around the world and the opportunity to find new ways to spend my frequent flier points." We didn’t make up that last bit, folks—it was in the press release. Prior to joining East Coast Labels in 2011, Voss was SVP International of IDJ for six years. Before that, he worked out of London as VP Marketing for UMGI. He was also VP of MCA Records in the U.K., and he spent 10 years at Virgin Records in London and New York. (7/31a)
