THE MYSTERY DEEPENS: The more we’re hearing about the abrupt departure of Lyor Cohen from Warner Music, the more questions the surprise move raises. The recorded music Chairman and company presidents were engaged in A&R meetings in Germany until Sunday, and attendees say Cohen was totally and typically rah-rah the whole time, giving absolutely no indication that he knew this was coming—not now, at least. Insiders insist that there are no big jobs out there for Cohen, despite initial speculation by some that he’d wind up at EMI post-merger. (9/25a)
