Grace Potter on Lone Ranger ST

WHAT YOU MEAN “WE,” PALEFACE? Grace Potter & the Nocturnals go folk-country on the chestnut “Devil’s Train,” the band’s contribution to The Lone Ranger: Wanted soundtrack. Rollingstone.com premiered the track this morning; click here to listen. "I'm a big movie geek,” Grace told RS, “so when we were invited to contribute to the project, I got really into it and started researching the original Lone Ranger radio broadcasts from the 1930s. I found 'Devil's Train' on an old Roy Acuff record, taught it to the guys and we recorded it live on the air for a show called Daytrotter. No fancy studio tricks…that's the recording you get right here and that's the way Tonto would want it." The movie, opening July 2 from Disney, also features tracks from Iggy Pop, Ben Kweller, Iron and Wine and others. And while we’re Pottering, VEVO has just debuted a kick-ass live video piece on GPN’s “The Lion the Beast the Beat”—check it out…and turn it up while you’re at it. (5/29a)
