RED partners with PIAS for ... zzzz ... zzzzz

MOVING TO THE NEXT BRACKET: RED Distribution has partnered with European indie leader [PIAS] Music Group for physical and digital distribution in North America. The first fruit of this union will be Editors' The Weight of Your Love, which streets on 7/2. [PIAS] set up a New York office just last month, tapping former Co-Op GM Sean Maxson to run it and maintain a steady supply of croissants, red wine and accordions. The new U.S. outlet will oversee releases from in-house labels Play It Again Sam and different and its new [PIAS] Cooperative label licensing division. RED prexy Bob Morelli and [PIAS] CEO/founder Kenny Gates praised one another extravagantly in their quotes, then headed over to UMPG to share a hash-laced Gauloise. (6/27p)
