YOUR WEEKLY MARKETSHARE: In the previous tally, Luke Bryan catapulted UMG Nashville to the top of the new-release big board. Hmm… cowboys with catapults—that sounds like a surefire premise for a summer movie. But getting back to the matter at hand, the country star’s typical 70% second-week brought Mike Dungan’s crew back to the pack, though Bryan remained #1 on the sales chart. That gave Columbia the opening, and the label gang-tackled the hatless one, as #2 John Mayer and #5 Earl Sweatshirt shared the sack with their combined 194k, backed up by The Civil Wars (21.2k), Daft Punk (11K), J. Cole (9.1k) and 1D (6.8k). Which collectively added up to a resounding win for Rob Stringer and co. But Universal’s Music City crew was unchallenged for the second slot, which ain’t chopped liver, or whatever they serve down there. (8/28a)
