SWIFTLY MAKING HISTORY: Taylor Swift will become the only artist to sell more than 1 million albums in a single week on three separate occasions—not to mention on three consecutive releases. We can now comfortably project 1989 will pass the million mark in its first week of release. 2012’s Red opened with 1.2m, while 2010’s Speak Now opened with 1.05m.
