ARTIST SPOTLIGHT
Jackie Tohn (www.jackietohn.com): Not only is Jackie a wicked vocalist, this New Yorker turned Angeleno also packs a mean punch with her sharp wit, which is woven through her well-crafted songs and compelling live performance. You may remember her from American Idol season eight, and this “powerfox” is returning to the tube Monday night (5/30), when she debuts on Kara DioGuardi and Jewel’s new Bravo series, Platnum Hit. Her style spans the spectrum from upbeat rhymes to down-tempo love songs, and tracks like “Relax,” “What is Love” and “Slow Going” will give you a true feel for her range. She’s traveled the country sharing her tunes, just completed her first L.A. residency at Barre Vermont and is gearing up for her latest turn in the spotlight with Platinum Hit. The career of this funny and talented young artist is beginning to soar; she’s got the chops to pull you in deep and the personality to keep you there.

Anna Johnson (www.facebook.com/themusicanna; @themusicanna): We were first turned on to this Nashville-based singer/songwriter two weeks ago by Scott Frazier, who discovered her and is currently managing her through his JV Management deal with Primary Wave. We immediately fell in love with her music, which has some parallels to Colbie Caillat. Anna is currently unpublished and unsigned, but we don’t expect this last too long once the rest of the industry gets the chance to check her out. We’ll be updating her progress and keeping a close eye on her, and we expect you all to do the same. She’s currently playing shows in the Midwest. Fave tracks: “Damaged and Bruised,” “Someday.” For inquiries, reach out to [email protected].

ON DECK
Jackson Harris
(http://www.myspace.com/jacksonharrisnyc): This youngster has a catchy new single, “Long Story Short,” fueled by the momentum of 1.2 million YouTube hits. Popstar! has selected Jackson for its “Fresh Faces” column, which highlights musical up-and-comers. The mag is one of several teen publications that have fallen in love with the N.Y.-based pop artist since the October 2010 release of his debut EP, Long Story Short (77 East Records).
