Make That Hell or Highwater, Just the Band to Keep Jesse Rockin' Through the Heatwave

By Jesse Beer-Dietz

Our offerings this week include a fairly new L.A. band with deep roots in the local scene, and a hip-hop group out of Virginia that’s making noise in the clubs. Keep feedin’ my inbox: [email protected]

SPOTLIGHT

Hell or Highwater (www.facebook.com/HellorHighwaterofficial): These rockers from Los Angeles are fronted by former Atreyu drummer Brandon Saller. The band recently released its debut album, Begin Again, is now on the road with the Uproar festival and will be touring the rest of the year. I had the pleasure of checking this album out, and I have to say it’s quite impressive. Though somewhat softer than Atreyu, it’s loaded with killer hooks and great guitar riffs. Focus tracks: “Hail Mary,” “We All Wanna Go” and “Gimme Love.” They’re repped by Larry Jacobson.

BUZZIN’

They’re currently working on their third mixtape, preparing to release an album in Japan and searching for an online distribution here in the States. Focus Track: “Boomerang” Check out their YouTube channel and their Facebook page. Contact manager David Cheek ([email protected]) for more info.
