This being the last edition of Wheels until the new year, I want to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season. As for our selections this week, we def have a bevy of goodies to leave you with. One band in particular, Black Cloud Collective, could make a big impact in ’11, in our humble opinion. Keep feedin the inbox: [email protected]
SPOTLIGHT
Black Cloud Collective (http://www.myspace.com/theblackcloudcollective): "Hail Mary!" is the debut track from a new project dreamed up by Atreyu’s Brandon Saller and produced by Fred Archambault (Avenged Sevenfold, etc.); look for a spring or summer release. The band is booked on the Monster Energy Outbreak tour, which will go down in February and March. You can snag “Hail Mary” from iTunes, Amazon and other digital retailers. BCC is unsigned, but we can’t imagine that this enormously promising band will stay that way too much longer.
ON DECK
Page 9: These rockers out of Austin have just self-released a new EP, which was mixed by John Naclerio (Brand New, My Chemical Romance). The band just finished a three-week East Coast tour.
M-Lab (www.m-labmusic.com): In the fall of 2001, following a long and extensive search for the right combination of musicians, keyboardist Derek Gregor finally found what he was looking for in singer Drew Brody and drummer Mike White. This three-piece built a foundation that infiltrated the Lower East Side of Manhattan and shaped the sound that is M-Lab today—a blend of lyrical piano hooks, innovative rhythms and a powerful voice. The band released their debut album, From Baser Elements, and after trying out various bassists and guitarists, they filled out their lineup with Nate Stevens and Kevin Hunter, releasing A Bold and Hopeful Spark earlier this year. Riding on their solid following and dynamic live performances, M-Lab is playing to packed houses, bringing their explosive energy to the stage and making new fans at every show.
