This Year’s Field Is Intriguingly Eclectic, Ranging From Stars Like Aldean and Swift to Envelope-Pushing Up-and-Comers Like The Civil Wars
The nominees for the
2011 CMT Awards were announced this morning on
The Today Show, and
Jason Aldean leads the pack with four, while
The Band Perry,
Lady Antebellum,
Miranda Lambert,
Rascal Flatts,
Taylor Swift and the
Zac Brown Band picked up three apiece. Double nominees are
Kenny Chesney,
Sugarland and
Carrie Underwood.
The field is dotted with new faces, including breaking duo The Civil Wars, tattooed Staind frontman Aaron Lewis, Adele, Sheryl Crow and even Justin Bieber, as the face of country music becomes increasingly more inclusive.
The initial noms for Video of the Year will be reduced to five during the live telecast, with final voting at CMT.com and via text messaging during the show. Online fan voting in all 10 categories is open at CMT.com through June 7.
