GRAMMY BLOGGING: NO GLEN CAMPBELL, SUGARLAND, MARIAH, WYCLEF JEAN?

No mention of Glen Campbell's Meet Glen Campbell? An underrated and over-looked career and now a snub here? The album is genius. Don't be surprised if a commercial country album pops up in Album of the Year like Carrie Underwood's Carnival Ride. Look for Rihanna's "Take a Bow" for Record of the Year. And Jennifer Hudson vs Leona Lewis in both R&B Female and Best New Artist categories. Would hate to be Clive in the middle of that battle. But Jen's got this thing called an Oscar... oh, and a Golden Globe.

I AM PISSED THAT Y’ALL LEFT MARIAH THE GAWD DAMN QUEEN OUT OF THE EQUATION. THAT COLDPLAY SONG SUCKS, AND SORRY TO TELL YOU, THE ALICIA KEYS ALBUM WASN’T ALL THAT GREAT. I HAPPEN TO THINK “BYEBYE” DESERVES A BEST SONG NOD. IT IS BY FAR ALOT BETTER THAN MOST OF THE STUFF Y’ALL HAVE MENTIONED. ALSO HER ALBUM SHOULD BE IN THE BEST ALBUM CATEGORY AS WELL. FOR BEST ALBUM I WOULD SAY MARIAH, COLDPLAY, DUFFY, JACK JOHNSON AND MAYBE PLANT/KRAUSS OR THE EAGLES BECAUSE YOU KNOW HOW THE GRAMMY'S ARE.

LIL WAYNE WILL DO WELL, BUT HE WILL PROBABLY DOMINATE THE HIP-HOP GATEGORIES. ARTISTICALLY THE ALBUM DOESNT MATCH UP, ALTHOUGH IT'S VERY VERY GOOD.

This has always been a dominant female category for years.

The thing about the Grammys this year will be if people care anymore. After the disappointment of [Herbie Hancock’s] River, will it have a sales impact like years before it? I think they’ve lost a lot of people’s (common and industry) respect. All the other categories are now hat tricks more than any year before it. The Grammy Board is very, very, very out of touch with what is going on mainstream and breakthrough-wise in music. Supposedly, this is the most elite music award, but it’s turned into the old people’s favorite person award. I wish them luck and change.

What about Wyclef Jean's Carnival II? The Grammys are often not about radio/record hype and the strength of an album, but this was one of the strongest that was released during this period (I think?).
