ARTISTS OF THE WEEK
Ladies of the Canyon:
A Montreal foursome, Ladies of the Canyon infuse the sounds of the Dixie Chicks and the Indigo Girls with their sweet, folk, pop sound, which is more than a little bit country. The band is currently finishing up their debut album and is creating quite the buzz with the new fans and local media. Check em out at www.myspace.com/lotcmusic and tell us if you think they have what it takes to cross the border into stardom.

Lindi (not your dad’s salsa) Ortega: Born in Canada to a Mexican father and an Irish mother, Lindi comes from a family rich in tradition and carries that through to her image and her lyrics. Blending sounds of June Carter and Dolly Parton, Lindi may just be Toronto’s best-kept secret. Spice up your life at www.myspace.com/lindimusic.

Crystal Castles: The first band we spotlighted from Last Gang, this electronica band from St. Helena in the U.K. is building a following organically with their cutting-edge sound. They’ve already accumulated 100k+ plus friends and more than 8 millions plays on their MySpace page, and the numbers keep growing from one day to the next. Their debut album is out now. They are also featured on mtvU’s Freshmen 5. Peep out their music at www.myspace.com/crystalcastles. We promised you the video that mtvU has been spinning; you can watch it right here.

EVERYTHING IN MINT CONDITION WITH THE PROS
A big thanks to Jennifer Knoepfle and Tom DeSavia at ASCAP for inviting us to The Mint for a private Tokyo Police Club performance last Friday. For those of you not familiar, Tokyo Police Club is signed to Saddle Creek Records out of Omaha, and their sound might best be described as Oasis meets The Strokes.

BMI had us out for John Oates at The Mint, this Tuesday, as well. We had the opportunity to catch some of the classic Hall and Oates tunes as well as material from Oates’ solo album, 1000 Miles of Life, to be released in September. It was a packed house, complete with loyal fan-club members and industry execs, and Oates proved that he’s still got it, even after more than 30 years.

SHOW REVIEW BY OUR UNDERAGE CLUB CRAWLER
Tuesday night at the Roxy was filled with a great collaboration of young artists, but one band stood out in particular. Max Morgan and his band lit up the stage with their eclectic pop-rock sound. The band is fresh from the U.K., bringing with them impeccable rhythm and style. The curtain went up, and along with it went the energy of the entire room. I’m sure everyone there was in a good mood. The boys seemed so ecstatic just to be playing music and really seemed to connect with the crowd, whether it was with their movements or even just their expressions. Max, in particular, has a great voice, similar to OasisLiam Gallagher, but with an upbeat Kooks or All-American Rejects spin to it. The band is releasing their debut album “Interrupting the Silence” this fall. Be sure to check them out at www.myspace.com/maxmorganband.
