VIBE PUMPS UP FRANZ AND MANCHESTER ORCHESTRA

Epic U.K. Faves and Columbia’s Atlanta-Based Art-Rockers Tapped for Future Success
A massive Apple iPod Touch TV campaign and a full-album video series are helping catapult this week’s two new HITS Vibe-Raters entries.

Epic’s U.K. dance-rock veterans Franz Ferdinand’s third album, Tonight: Franz Ferdinand, enters at #10, with “No You Girls” spotlighted on the current iPod TV spot, which has it soaring at PoMo giants like WBCN, WSWD, WXRT, KFOG and more. The group kicks off a series of West Coast dates with an appearance at Coachella next month, with a Jimmy Kimmel spot April 16 and a Letterman appearance May 5. MySpace debuts the video today (3/12). Check out their Vibe-Raters entry here.

Atlanta art-rockers Manchester Orchestra’s sophomore album Mean Everything to Nothing on the Favorite Gentlemen/Canvasback/Columbia label, is drumming up interest at PoMo radio for its single, “I’ve Got Friends,” currently getting spins at WRXP, KTNI, WWCD, WEQX, KCXX and more. The band has a national club tour ongoing through June 4 in Orlando, with a Letterman appearance scheduled for April 29. The album hits retail April 21. Destroy Rock Music’s Emmy-winning directing team of Clay Lipsky and Jason Bobnacki has created videos for the entire album, with the first clip, “The Only One,” streaming exclusively AbsolutePunk.net. Each subsequent video (or chapter, since the clips combine to form a loose narrative) will make its premiere on a different website leading up to the street date.
