WHEELS 2.0 DOES THE OLD IN & OUT

Sorry, Kids, but This Is Our Memorial Day Getaway Quickie—Too Hip, Gotta Go
ONE TO WATCH:
Hannah Georgas
(www.myspace.com/hannahgeorgas): Eccentric, carefree and sensitive, but serious as well, this Vancouver-based singer/songwriter was born and raised in the suburbs of T-Dot, where she wrote her very first song at the age of 5. Hannah chose guitar as her primary instrument at a very young age and came up playing in late-night jam sessions (apparently past her bedtime). Though influenced by artists across the board, from Billy Corgan to Janet Jackson, she’s fully assimilated those disparate modes on the way to developing her own style, one that is captivating audiences across Canada and impacting the U.S. this year. Ryan Guldemond from Wheels’ favorite, Mother Mother is in the midst of producing Hanna’s first record, along with Howard Redekopp (Tegan and Sara); it should be out this summer. She’ll be showcasing at the Living Room in N.Y. on June 1 and NXNE at The Rivoli on June 19—and be sure to check out her MySpace page for other shows and info.

BAND/ARTIST UPDATES

Their first full-scale U.S. tour kicks off on June 25 and will run through Aug. 6. Most excitingly, Chris Hardin has signed on to co-manage SRD. They’ll join Live and Indigeous as the first clients of his newly launched Hardin Entertainment.
