WHEELS 2.0 SHIFTS GEARS TO DIY

This Week, and for Several Weeks to Come, Jesse Is Minding the Store

I’ll be flying solo for the next month or so, as my partner Erica is off in management land. DIY is in full effect this week—the two featured artists are creating substantial buzz without any label backing. Please keep feeding my inbox: [email protected]

ONES TO WATCH
Tiffany Giardina
(myspace.com/tiffanygiardina): She’s 16, beautiful and has a couple of movie placements of her songs, and yet she’s still unsigned. Tiffany’s debut album, No Average Angel, which came out last year, made it to the top echelons of several Billboard charts. The album reached #1 on both the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic New Artist charts, #8 on Heatseekers and #34 on the Independent albums chart. Her first single, the album’s title track, even reached #12 on Radio Disney’s Top 30 Countdown. Her second single, “Hurry Up & Save Me,” has managed to sell over 50k units to date, with no radio play. The song still gets approximately 1,000 digital downloads a month. Next month, Tiffany will be opening up for Justin Bieber at the Hard Rock Café, and then the two will play again at Popcon at Nassau Coliseum. We’re baffled as to why this amazingly talented artist is yet to be signed, but we can safely assume it’s just a matter of time…

Oren Lavie (www.myspace.com/orenlavie): This singer/songwriter has north of 10 million views on YouTube and a Grammy nomination for Best Short Form Music Video, and all this without a label. Check out the stunning video here and let us know what you think. We have really high hopes for this one.

ON DECK
Moonlight Bride
(http://myspace.com/moonlightbride)- The buzz is quickly heating up on this band from Tennessee. We hear labels are lining up to check them out live. Their album Myths is now available online, while the single “1915” has been serviced and is playing on several college radio stations. The band is working on some SXSW dates and will also be touring the Midwest. For more info, check their MySpace page.
