Reprise’s Green Day remains #2 with 21st Century Breakdown, putting another 71k in the tills for a two-and-a-half-week total of 455k.
Disney’s Hannah Montana: The Movie soundtrack bounces back up to #3, followed by the week’s biggest debut, Interscope’s Marilyn Manson (#4) and labelmate Lady Gaga (#5), giving Jimmy Iovine and company three of the Top 5, with Black Eyed Peas on tap for June 9 with their new album, The E.N.D.
The week’s other top debuts include Machete Music Puerto Rican reggaeton act Wisin Y Yandel (#8) and Warp alterna-roots indie band Grizzly Bear’s Veckatimest (#9).
BNA/RCA Nashville’s Kenny Chesney (#6), Big Machine’s Taylor Swift, back in the Top 10 and up 10% (#7) and Lyric Street’s Rascal Flatts round out the leader board. Meanwhile, young Grammy contender Swift’s self-titled debut also jumps back up the charts, moving #46-38, up 15%.
Debuts are also registered by Integrity/Columbia Christian rockers Hillsong United (#20), Ultra Records’ Let’s Dance! compilation (#23) and Storefront Entertainment’s Mandy Moore (#35).
In addition, MCA Nashville’s George Strait (#30) and Mercury Nashville’s Jamey Johnson (#41) both re-enter, thanks to the CBS primetime Academy of Country Music tribute to Strait as “Artist of the Decade,” which featured Johnson.
Other double-digit gainers include Capitol Nashville’s Keith Urban (#23-14, +13%) and RCA/RMG’s red-hot Kings of Leon (#19-13, +10%) fresh off their performance on the MTV Movie Awards, where they sat on no one and nobody sat on them, giving the lie to their hit “Use Somebody.”
Hitting the streets this week are RCA’s Dave Matthews Band, Volcano/JLG’s 311, WB’s Taking Back Sunday, Epitaph/ADA’s Rancid and Redline/Fontana’s Chickenfoot, the band featuring Sammy Hagar, ex-Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony, Joe Satriani and Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith.
