Kings of Leon, MGMT, Phoenix, Bon Iver Among the Cutting-Edge Current Bands Getting Major Love From the Music Mag of Record
Radiohead’s
Kid A is the album of the decade, and
Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy” is the noughties’ top song, according to the pundits at
Rolling Stone, which has posted its
Top 100s on rollingstone.com as the retrospective print issue hits newsstands.
A perusal of the albums list reveals that Radiohead is the only act to place four albums in the Top 100, while
Kings of Leon and
Kanye West snagged three apiece. Strangely, the only KOL longplayer that didn’t make the final cut is our favorite, 2007’s
Because of the Times.
The most recent LPs on the list are
MGMT’s
Oracular Spectacular (’08) at #18,
Lil Wayne’s
The Carter III (’08) at #32,
U2’s
No Line on the Horizon (’09) at #36, KOL’s
Only by the Night (’08) at #53,
Phoenix’s
Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix (’09) at #60, Kanye’s
808s and Heartbreak (’08) at #63 and
Bon Iver’s
For Emma, Forever Ago (’08) at #92.
