HITS Daily Double
“Our goal is to make music people can relate to, that is new and fresh and different.”
——Jupiter Rising’s Jessie Payo

This Week, Jesse and Erica Have Two New Picks to Click, One to Watch and Glowing Progress Reports From Two Recently Featured Bands
On the road again…well, kind of. Erica has left me, but only for a day, as she’s on the road with the Airborne Toxic Event for a show in the Bay Area. This did not, however, deter us from assembling some fine talent for this week. We’ve come across a pair of amazing acts, both of whom we expect to make a major impact at some point in the near future. Keep feeding our inboxes, because we look to you guys to satisfy our new music hunger: [email protected]

Jupiter Rising
(www.myspace.com/jupiterrising): Spencer Nezey and Jessie Payo are the principals in this the energetic and electrifying electro-pop duo, signed to Chime Entertainment. Their current single “Falling Away” is Amazon’s free featured download of the week and is already spinning at radio. They’ve been featured on KTLA News and E!’s Daily Ten and have a string of live dates in the coming weeks. They’ve shared the stage with Black Eyed Peas and Lupe Fiasco, and their album, The Quiet Hype, is already bringing the noise. “Our goal is to make music people can relate to, that is new and fresh and different,” says Jessie. We had the pleasure of seeing their dynamic live show last week, and their funky set was met with great enthusiasm by a packed house. Stay in the loop and be sure to see for yourself what the buzz is about.

Chloe Leighton (www.myspace.com/chloeleighton): This rising singer/songwriter was born in Sydney, spent time in Paris and Seattle and now calls L.A. home. She began piano lessons at age 6, guitar at 14, and cello at 17 and has been composing music for as long as she can remember. The 22-year-old artist draws on influences from Tori Amos to Jeff Buckley, and her writing style reminds us of that of Sara Bareilles. Her unique flavor can be heard in both English and French—yup, she’s bilingual. Chloe has signed a publishing deal with HoriPro and is managed by Darren Gilmore of Watchdog Management. If you’re in L.A. on April 16, be sure to catch her set at the Hotel Café. We’ll see you there.

The Daylights
(www.myspace.com/thedaylights): Currently on Katy Perry’s sold-out U.S. tour, this three-piece rock outfit reminds us a little bit of U2, no less. The band recently put the wraps on their self-financed debut album with Youth (Paul McCartney, Dido, The Verve), which was executive produced by OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder. It’s truly amazing what this band has been able to do on their own, with no label or publisher behind them. Who says you need a label? Check these guys out—something special is brewing.

Me Talk Pretty
(www.myspace.com/metalkpretty): Winners of the Denny’s Adopt a Band/Filter magazine contest, the band rode the momentum through some great shows at SXSW and is being hailed as one of the best unsigned acts out there. They were recently featured on Matt Pinfield’s Local Licks show on WRXP N.Y. and just completed taping two songs for The Edge With Jake Sasseville, which will air after Jimmy Kimmel in the next couple weeks. The band will be showcasing at Santo’s Party House in N.Y. on April 24; if you’re in town that day, we strongly suggest that you put this date on your must-see list. This show is close to being sold out already, so if you’re looking to get in, hit us up and we’ll get you on the list.

Static Summer (www.myspace.com/staticsummermusic): Their phones haven’t stopped ringing since last week’s write-up in Wheels. Expect lots of showcases for this band in the coming weeks. Congrats, guys.
