HITS Daily Double
Interscope’s Lady Gaga rounds out the Top 5, giving label chief Jimmy Iovine an impressive three of ‘em. Now that’s a hat trick.

PEAS OUT, YO!

Chickenfoot Steps Up, Aventura, Pleasure P, Mos Def Bow in Top 10
It’s Boom Boom Pow on the HITS Album charts, folks.

This is not The E.N.D., but rather just the start for Interscope’s Black-Eyed Peas, who bow at #1 this week with 308k in total sales, enough to turn back last week’s chart-topper, RCA’s Dave Matthews Band, dipping to #2 with another 123k to its cume.

Shady/Aftermath/Interscope’s Eminem is #3, with Redline’s Chickenfoot, the supergroup featuring Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony, Joe Satriani and Chad Smith, the week’s biggest gainer, moves 57% to 81k at #4 with a full 10 days in stores. Interscope’s Lady Gaga rounds out the Top 5, giving label chief Jimmy Iovine an impressive three of ‘em. Now that’s a hat trick.

Sony Music Latin’s Aventura (#8), Atlantic’s Pleasure P (#9) and Downtown’s Mos Def (#10) are the three Top 10 newcomers, trailing Disney’s still resilient Hannah Montana: The Movie soundtrack (#6) and Reprise’s Green Day (#7). Chickenfoot and Mos Def give Ron Spaulding’s UMG indie distriberry Fontana two of the Top 10.

Stax soul vet Teena Marie (#19) is the week’s other top debut, followed by Matador’s no wave icons Sonic Youth (#26), Columbia’s Iron Maiden (#30), E1 Entertainment’s D-Block (#35), Mad Science/Fontana’s DJ Quik & Kurupt (#46) and Vagrant’s Placebo (#47).

Returning to the charts this week are Photo Finish’s 3OH!3 (#43), Capitol’s Katy Perry (#45) and A&M/Octone’s still-percolating online find Hollywood Undead (#49).

The week’s only other double-digit gainer aside from Chickenfoot is Capitol Nashville’s Darius Rucker (#34-25, +14%), with Capitol Nashville’s Lady Antebellum moving #32-27, +8%.

Disney’s Jonas Brothers hit the streets with their new album, Lines, Vines and Trying Times, with reported influences ranging from Kings of Leon to Neil Diamond. It is expected to easily top next week’s chart. Also, expect some post-award show spikes from the CMT show.
