Sugarland, Gloriana Debut in Top 5, But With Three of the Top 4, Michael Continues his Reign
As the squabble over the Michael Jackson estate continues, the late superstar continues to dominate the HITS album chart.

Number Ones is #1 again this week, falling just short of 100k, followed by Essential (#3) and Thriller (#4), along with six others in the Top 50: Bad (#21), Dangerous (#25), Off the Wall (#27), Jackson 5’s Ultimate Collection (#29), Michael’s Ultimate Collection (#36) and Jackson 5’s 20th Century Masters (#48).

The top debut of the week goes to Mercury Nashville’s Grammy winning Sugarland, whose Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club exclusive CD/DVD Live on the Inside, featuring an amazing cover of Kings of Leon’s “Sex on Fire,” bows at #2, with 74k.

The other Top 10 newcomer is co-ed country band Gloriana, with a self-titled debut on former Virgin boss Matt Serletic’s Atlantic-distribbed Emblem label, rounding out the Top 5.

Sony Music’s Now 31 (#6), RCA/RMG’s surging Kings of Leon (#7), Interscope’s Black Eyed Peas (#8), Columbia’s Maxwell (#9) and 19/RCA/RMG’s Daughtry (#10) complete the leader board.

Thanks to the Gloved One, Rolf Schmidt-Holtz’s Sony Music Entertainment once more sports seven of the Top 10, with Barry WeissRCA/JIVE Music Group accounting for two of 'em in KOL and Daughtry, with the rest under the watch of Columbia/Epic Music Group’s Rob Stringer.

Leading the list of Top 50 entries are Razor & Tie’s cottage industry Kidz Bop 16 (#11), Up&Up/Universal Republic’s K’Jon (#15), Epic’s Modest Mouse EP (#19), Walt Disney’s Wizards of Waverly Place soundtrack (#30), Integrity/Columbia’s Hillsong (#45) and Sire’s (500) Days of Summer soundtrack (#49).

Hitting retail this week for chart debuts next Tuesday are MCA Nashville’s George Strait, Decaydance/Atlantic’s Cobra Starship and Mercury/IDJ’s Jessie James.
