ONE TO WATCH
Six Gallery
(www.myspace.com/sixgallery; @sixgallery): Starting out in the summer of 2005 as college students barely able to drink in the clubs they played, Six Gallery jumped on the scene as an instrumental act, but after a pair of EPs, college graduation and more than 100 gigs, the foursome turned their focus to progressive post-rock with the addition of vocalist Daniel Francis. This new direction led the band to release their debut LP, Breakthroughs in Modern Art, in June of this year. The finger-tapping, melodic and euphoric feel of the album has built a story and a buzz, catching the attention of label weasels, radio folks and booking agents. The band is currently on the Weekend Warrior tour through the Midwest and Northeast, so get the album and go see them; we’re stuck in allergy-ridden Los Angeles.

ON DECK
Willie’s Nerve Clinic
(www.myspace.com/williesnerveclinic): An L.A. trio featuring former Incubus member Dirk Lance, WNC has drawn comparisons to Steely Dan and Toto—but we’ll let you be the judge of that. The album, Vampire Kiss, is an eclectic blend of hard rock, funk and jazz that takes listeners on a wild musical ride. Check ’em out and let us know what you think.
