Big chief Kevin Day has announced the addition of a new radio promotion team to Rocket Science, the L.A.-based based label services company.
The new Rocket Science romotion team will consist of veteran execs Bob Catania (who has toned down his legendary coif since his last sighting) and N.Y.-based Jimmy Fay. Together, they’ll work with both the sales and marketing staff to maximize radio exposure and lend support to each project’s promotion efforts, making use of the tradional methods, including hookers, blow and Fed Ex packages filled with cash. We keed, we keed.
In making the announcement, Day stated: “As the depth and breadth of Rocket Science services have expanded, it just seemed natural that radio promotion would provide a large value-added component for our clients. Operationally speaking, our promotion team will work in conjunction with our sales and marketing staff to provide a comprehensive experience and, in some cases, Bob and Jimmy will be able to provide day-to-day quarterback and strategic support to the national radio team, who are already in place. Like much of what we do, it is another set of options, allowing for flexibility and rapid execution in delivering artist content to the marketplace.”
Added Adrenaline Music Group GM Bob Divney: “We look forward to having Bob and Jimmy be in a position to develop projects where radio will be critical, so that we can better maximize the services and help of the many promotion teams that have been central to our success and the success of the artists we represent. If we have the ability to minimize the cost early on and advanced the profile, it only gives us more artist development time and provides greater traction for us to escalate radio promotion activities as the marketplace dictates.”

For the uninitiated, Rocket Science is a full-service sales and field-marketing company, offering a pipeline for artists to the digital and retail marketplace. The company was set up by Day to provide a major label presence at retail and distribution for acts and indie labels.
