Add Hollywood mogul to Jordan Schur’s resume alongside record label exec, music manager and Fred Durst confidante.
In additioin to his Suretone music management/record label that includes the reunited Limp Bizkit, The Cure and Shwayze, Schur now launches his recently formed Mimran Schur Pictures with its debut film, Stone, starring Robert De Niro and Edward Norton.
The company was founded earlier this year by Schur with David Mimran.
Written by Junebug’s Angus MacLachlan and directed by John Curran, Stone is a psychological thriller about a correctional officer (De Niro) who is seduced by the wife of a convicted arsonist up for parole (Norton), changing their lives forever.
Revealing he has four or five more films already lined up, Schur said, "David and I are thrilled to have two esteemed actors in Robert De Niro and Edward Norton, along with acclaimed director John Curran, for our first film to launch our company. Stone represents the type of pictures we wish to make…important films with world-class talent.”
Cassian Elwes packaged the film and will sell on behalf of William Morris Independent, with Nu Image Films handling international sales.
Schur continues to rule in the music world also. Orchestrating the return of Limp Bizkit’s original line-up, the band begins a 24-date world tour in Latvia May 20, with dates in St. Petersberg (5/27) and Moscow (5/29). Bizkit will spend most of the summer playing all the big European festivals, including Germany’s Rock Im Park (6/5) and Rock Am Ring Festivals (6/7), the latter being filmed by MTV for its World Stage show, airing July 3 in 162 countries, as well as the U.K.’s Download Festival (6/12). On July 4, Bizkit will co-headline the Werchter Festival in Belgium with Metallica (7/4) before ending in Paris the following night (7/5). The second leg of the tour will begin in early August, when Limp Bizkit returns to the U.K. to accept the Icon Award at the Kerrang! Awards show, and will also appear on the June cover of the magazine. The tour continues to Japan for the Summer Sonic Festival in Osaka (8/7) and Tokyo (8/9) with co-headliner Jay Z. More dates for the world tour will be announced, while chatter insists there will be U.S. performances as well.
The Cure, another Suretone band and management client, have just completed their world tour with a headlining performance at Coachella. Later this summer, Shwayze will release a sophomore album after the debut went to #1 at iTunes and bowed on the national sales charts at #8. Shwayze is currently on tour in the U.S. and will continue internationally this summer.
One thing’s for Schur. Jordan’s going to be pretty busy this year.
