JE-C’s NEW MOVIE RUNDOWN
Shrek the Third
Starring: Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, Antonio Banderas, Julie Andrews, John Cleese, Rupert Everett, Eric Idle, and Justin Timberlake
Synopsis: The greatest fairy tale never told continues as Shrek must embark on a new quest to find the true king
Thoughts: The early buzz around this movie is very mixed and mostly negative. I have a friend who saw it and said it just isn’t as good as the other two, which is what the early reviews have said as well. It is amazing that so far, two big summer blockbusters have come out to mixed reviews. It didn’t hurt Spider-man 3’s box office; I don’t think it will affect Shrek the Third’s either, but third time is obviously not the charm for critics.
IDLE THOUGHTS BY YOSH KATZ
Slight surprise this week with Melinda leaving. Yet, let's face it, folks, she had no personality off-stage and really acted like a background singer, even if she didn’t sound like one. Blake had tons of personality, and that matters in this competition.
But it’s all for naught, as we said last week. Jordin Sparks is your new American Idol, which I think is even more certain now that Melinda is gone.
Not much else to say, except crown Jordan and then wait til AI7, which I believe should get back the ratings and prestige.
