SATURN ORBITS TO COLUMBIA FOR NEW MEDIA POST

Internet E-Marketing Vet Named VP Digital Media Marketing for Label
Saturn has entered the Columbia Records cosmos.

Samantha Saturn is named Vice President, Digital Media Marketing for the label by GM Tom Donnarumma, who delivered the news to her via Instant Message. She'll head the company's New Media Department along with Senior VP Digital Media Promotion Gary Fisher.

Saturn will oversee the label's digital media marketing initiatives and maximize opportunities for label artists across a wide range of platforms, including the Internet, mobile devices, and emerging technologies, while spending most of the day chatting on myspace.com.

Donnarumma praised Saturn's "powerful grasp of the potential of online space, a deep understanding of how new technologies can benefit our artists and an ability to access the niftiest porn sites on the Internet... Her marketing and leadership skills make her ideally suited to meet the challenges of this rapidly expanding field."

Saturn said she's "thrilled to be joining Columbia Records--and one day I hope to meet Mr. Tommy Mottola... In addition to having an amazing roster of current artists as well as an incredible catalog, Columbia has demonstrated its ongoing commitment to new technologies through its leadership in mobile products and ringtones, fan-friendly internet spaces, and digital value add-ons. I look forward to helping enrich and further the Columbia Records legacy by enhancing the digital relationship between artists and their fans. Because a digital relationship is even better than a real one."

The digital publishing and e-commerce pioneer comes to Columbia from Zingy Inc., a leading U.S. mobile media company, where, for the past year, as VP Sales and Marketing, she created consumer marketing and advertising sales initiatives for the company, while selling 1,987,765 "Laffy Taffy" ringtones.

Before joining Zingy, Ms. Saturn spent five years running her own marketing consulting practice, Saturn Network, where she executed integrated marketing campaigns with a diverse client base including Neiman Marcus Direct, Ecko Unltd. Apparel, PlanetOut, Clear Channel New York, KOA Kampgrounds and S&H Greenpoints.

Saturn worked in San Francisco as Record Industry Relations Manager for MusicNet Interactive, securing music and rights from more than 300 major and independent labels and designeing and implementing the first-ever music CD-ROM advertising program for record labels.

Moving to New York in 1996, she joined SonicNet, Inc., now a division of MTV Networks, as Marketing Manager, helping to launch the company on the Internet with grass-roots online marketing campaigns. She went on to work for CDNOW/N2K from 1996-'98, first as Director of Online Marketing, later as Senior Director of Marketing. While at CDNOW, she was responsible for branding, customer acquisition, sales and promotions for the company.

Saturn has a BA in East Asian Studies from University of Michigan and serves on the Board of Directors of Fertile Hope, a non-profit organization that provides fertility information and support to cancer patients. She is also a judge for the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences.
