Show Will Be Held Sunday, Sept. 9 for First Time in Las Vegas
It’ll be one for the high rollers as MTV holds its first-ever Video Music Awards in Las Vegas, with Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, Amy Winehouse, Rihanna and Kanye West among the top nominees announced today. Beyonce and Timberlake lead the noms with seven apiece, West and Rihanna received five each, while Winehouse nabbed three nods.

The show will take place Sunday, Sept. 9, at the Palms Casino Resort, with Timbaland as musical “Maestro,” and Winehouse, West, Rihanna, Foo Fighters, Fall Out Boy, Lily Allen and Chris Brown among the performers.

"We may not own Las Vegas yet, but for one weekend the VMAs will rock this town," said network President Christina Norman, who promises to lose her shirt there. "From Justin to Rihanna to the Foo Fighters, the sheer amount of star power and talent is tremendous and will no doubt blow the roof off The Palms. And, seriously, this is just the beginning.
