Karen Lamberton Named SVP, Soundtracks and Film & TV Licensing for new BMG Label Group

RCA Music Group and Zomba Label Group have jointly formed a new Soundtracks and Film & TV Licensing department for BMG Label Group.

Karen Lamberton has been named SVP Soundtracks and Film & TV Licensing, BMG Label Group, reporting to BMG Label Group President/COO Charles Goldstuck, based in New York. In her expanded role, she will oversee and implement music placements in advertising, television and film projects, along with executing soundtrack deals for RCA Music Group and Zomba Label Group artists. She has now heard John Mellencamp’s “This Is Our Country” approximately 1,765,207 times.

Lamberton has held the position of VP Soundtracks and Film & TV Licensing for the RCA Music Group since 2003. She joined J Records in 2001 as VP Soundtracks and Film & Television Licensing, establishing the licensing division and overseeing the development of soundtrack albums and placements in television shows and films. In 2003, she added the RCA label. She also served as VP for Quincy Jones’ music publishing company and worked for the renowned Gorfaine/Schwartz Agency home of top film composers like Ennio Morricone. Previously she served as production coordinator/ artist manager for Worlds End whose roster included Steve Lillywhite and Howard Benson.

Said Goldstuck: “The Film and Television arena has emerged as one of the most vibrant channels for introducing new music to a broader audience. Karen’s experience and relationships have been a vital component in the successes we have had with our artists and we are thrilled to see her broaden her responsibility to the entire BMG Label Group roster. Now if she can just find a Chevy commercial for Christina Aguilera to do.”

Added Lamberton: “I am so pleased to take on the additional responsibility of promoting the Zomba roster and to be working with Barry Weiss and his team. I consider this the ultimate compliment from Charles Goldstuck and Clive Davis who, along with Tom Corson and Richard Sanders, have shown me support and encouragement as my role has grown these past five years. I truly look forward to helping all the artists within the BMG family reach their goals and to working alongside my mentors here at J, RCA, Arista and now Zomba to further the success of the group. And I’m hoping maybe this year to even be invited to Clive’s pre-Grammy party.”
