Jack Johnson Remains at #1, Michael Jackson Bows at #2, Winehouse #3, Herbie’s Grammy Winner #7
It’s Back to Black for the record industry, at least for a week.

Riding the dual momentum of the Grammys and Valentine’s Day, several albums, including Amy Winehouse, Herbie Hancock, John Legend, Foo Fighters, Kanye West and Carrie Underwood returned to the charts in a big way.

Brushfire/Universal Republic’s Jack Johnson returns to #1 again this week, with a total of 170k, followed by the debut of Michael Jackson’s Sony Legacy 25th anniversary re-package of Thriller at #2 with 157k.

Verve’s Herbie Hancock was the other recipient of Grammy buzz, debuting at #7, with a one-week total of 51k, thanks to his Album of the Year victory for River: The Joni Letters.

J’s Alicia Keys took advantage of some awards night buzz to land at #4, followed by Hip-O/Universal’s 2008 Grammy Nominees (#5), Rhino’s Juno soundtrack (#6), Big Machine’s Taylor Swift (#8), Geffen’s Mary J. Blige (#9) and Atlantic’s Step Up 2 the Streets soundtrack (#10).

Other Top 50 newcomers include Lava/Atlantic’s A Simple Plan (#12) and Verity’s Wow Gospel 2008 (#29).

Grammy winners Robert Plant and Alison Krauss saw their album, Raising Sand, go #43-18, with a whopping 112% increase.

Other impressive jumps include ERC’s Eagles album (#24-17, +51%), RCA/RMG’s Daughtry (#20, +35%), Reprise’s Michael Buble (#24, +33%), Arista/RMG country star Carrie Underwood’s Carnival Ride (#32, +32%), Interscope’s Across the Universe soundtrack (#33, +47%), Def Jam/IDJ’s Rihanna (#46-35, +68%) and Decca’s Andrea Bocelli (#49-38, +71%).

Razor & Tie’s Kidz Bop 13, Glassnote's Secondhand Serenade and Koch’s Jim Jones albums hit retail today.
